.: We are The Wind
.: synopsis

.: Man's Oceans
.: synopsis

The state of global fisheries makes for grim reading. While demand is rising, the stocks of wild species are declining drastically. Fisheries and the aquatic ecosystems that nurture them are under tremendous pressure.

Reliable scientific assessments shows that the exploitation of and damage to the ecosystem is getting worse and that nearly 70% of the world's stocks now are in need of urgent management. On the other hand, two hundred million of traditional fishermen depend upon fishing for survival, especially in the undeveloped countries. Fish production must double in the next 25 years in accordance with expected population increase. Could aquaculture offer a solution to over-fishing? Could it cause new environmental problems? The series deeply analyses the real state of the oceans at the beginning of the 21st century.

.: Javier: the Legacy of Francisco Javier in Japan
.: synopsis

It was the Spanish Jesuit missionary Francisco Javier, one of the first European to come to Japan, who brought the christianism and among other things, as the mechanical timepiece. It would revolutionize the way of measuring time in this archipelago, and five centuries later, Japan has become an excellent manufacturer of clocks. In addition to the "sacramental act"(a religious theatrical style that would be adapted by the Kabuki creators), the Navarrese Francisco Javier and his missionaries brought and promoted the use of the printing machine and contributed to the diffusion of European painting, music and food.
Francisco Javier formed a permanent bridge between East and West for the history of the japanese society.
